Question about bone pain & light chain results

Hello, I am a patient. Does anyone know what could cause these symptoms and lab results:
* Bone pain for 40 years since childhood (Yes, 40 years in a row. This confuses people including hematologists sometimes. My parents took me to the pediatrician for this and they all thought it was leukemia. But it wasn't so they said I would just grow out of the bone pain, but I never did.)
* Age 30, MRI for bone pain, results said marrow reconversion
* Age 50, lab test results of:
- Gamma Globulin 0.6 (reference range 0.8 to 1.7)
- Total Kappa Light Chains 164 (reference range 176 to 443)
- Total Lambda Light Chains 65 (reference range 91 to 240)
- Total Kappa/Lambda ratio of 2.52
- normal blood counts

I don't know which category of a forum to place this in, so I just chose MDS for now.

  1. Hi Suzette. We would love to be able to tell you there is some diagnosis or medical advice we could give that could help direct you but, unfortunately, not only are we not permitted to do so but in addition there are just so many different ways that things can be interpreted it is almost impossible to give any sort of competent diagnosis over the Internet. I know that must be frustrating and I get it but I think the best bet, hassle as it is, is to get another opinion from an oncologist who specializes in blood cancer. I know it is not fun, trust me, it took me two years of going to doctors to get a diagnosis for my chronic illness and then three months in the hospital years later to get a diagnosis for my blood cancer. What we can offer is that if you need any help or info in doing all of that, we can certainly do our best to support you in the quest for a diagnosis. Let us know how it goes or what you decide! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
