What unexpected side effects have you experienced?

Blood cancer and treatment can lead to unexpected side effects. What side effects surprised you?

  1. Not having the energy to do the things I used to do. Hiking in the woods and having a long weekend outdoors reconnecting and recharging are more of a challenge, it takes a few days to recover from the expelled energy.

  2. Brukinsa caused strange cough for 6 months and high blood pressure (I took medication to control this but not effective at this time) for 4 months. Stop Brukinsa and ill affect stopped in one month. Second month blood count had been 7,100 than increased to 8,000. Begin Brukinsa after 60 day delay at 50% original dose which seems good since my count is already low. I wonder it "control" of bad cells will be good with reduced Brukinsa??

    1. I've been on Brukinsa for almost 2 years now and doing OK. Hope it starts working for you at the lower doses.

  3. I was not expecting to have a blood clot in my thigh. I also was not expecting to have lymphedema in my legs.

  4. Neuropathy in my feet and hands. I was just told that I might get a tingling sensation in my hands and feet. Wasn't expecting it to be permanent.
