Not the way I expected
In July of 2020 I was in the emergency room with a mental health issue and because it was during the pandemic I was sitting on a gurney in the hallway of the ER. Before they would admit to the hospital, they had to do a tox screening to make sure I wasn’t on drugs or alcohol.
'You have leukemia'
A while after the blood draw for the tox screening one of the nurses walked past me and in a flippant manner said, “By the way, you have leukemia.” Literally that is the way I was told about my diagnosis.
I wasn’t angry because I was trying to not have a complete meltdown.
It’s not the way I expected it to be.
