How has brain fog impacted you?

Many people living with blood cancer report being significantly impacted by brain fog and cognitive impairment as treatment side effects. These issues can affect daily life, making it harder to focus, remember things, and complete routine tasks.

How has brain fog affected you?

  1. I try to write down important information. My recall is awful. I sometimes have to have things repeated and shown to me. It is a horrible side effect to someone who had the memory of an elephant. I’m adjusting and doing mental games to keep focus .

    1. I write things down and still forget to do them. Sometimes I go back and underline or write in bold shouty-caps. What do you do to motivate yourself to follow through ? I think that admitting that there is a problem is a win in itself. But it sure is nice to have something to show for it. What do you do for mental games? I could use some of those myself! Maybe I will try one of yours. How are you doing in general? It's good to have you in the community! Take care, Ronni (team member)

      1. I have the giant multiple puzzles book that I pick up cheap at “Ollie’s” which is a discount store. Word search, crosswords, and on my cell phone I have free solitaire games and free bubble pop - where you have to figure the ‘angles’ to shot at the bubbles so that you win the game. When I get tired of this, I draw out quilt blocks and choose color options with my colored pencils. I think I will get the hand-held electric scribe and a bag of polished black rocks and start drawing on them. Example: Alaskan designs, American Indian design, designs from the era of the Druids, Gothic, Dragons, forest animals…etc. Any of these will help your brain.
So far, when I forget, I usually remember within four or five minutes.

    2. Yes

      1. Frustrated when I can't recall right away. Usually in few minutes I remember.

        1. It really IS frustrating! A few minutes doesn't sound too bad! It takes me days to remember sometimes. Have you read this article with tips?https://blood-cancer.com/living/manage-brain-fog#comment-546984. I hope it helps!
