Why ?

Why didn’t my Dr. Say anything about a bone marrow transplant? I’m only 71 in great shape. It’s a blood test every 3 months and wait and see what’s next.

  1. Unfortunately after thirty plus years of chronic illness and five years of cancer I can probably fill a novel with the things my doctors didn’t tell me. It’s like they purposefully leave stuff out sometimes, even though they’d probably say they just forgot. It’s why it’s so important to be our own advocates because you never know what they might “forget” that ends up being important. Keep on keepin’ on, DPM

    1. There could be a plethora of reasons why that option was not mentioned. It also depends on whether the correct specialist is seeing you. Why not have that open conversation with your doctor about why a BMT was not recommended? Try opening up the dialogue for this very good point. Wishing you the very best!

      1. ,As said, the only way to know is to ask. And maybe you know by now and this would be a moot point. ALSO, maybe your doctor thinks you are not sick enough to need the transplant . They are not for everyone That would be a big reason not to recommend it. I've had four, and they were not exactly a walk in the park!
