When told I needed to undergo 6 months of chemo along with blood tests every 3 weeks ... at minimum !!! I said yes and had a port installed. It made it a lot easier than getting stuck over and over again in my arm. I am in your camp - lets do the oral meds vs looking at and feeling those very sharp needles. Dennis(Blood-Cancer.com TEAM)

Totally agree Dennis. I was slow and hesitant on the port idea, but I don't recall that being mentioned as an option until later on in the game when my veins were starting to dry up. There's gotta be a better way! Let me not get started on the bone marrow biopsy too. SMH

Oral meds all the way! Being pin-pricked over and over again can damage the veins. Hello scar tissue! I never ever appreciated a port. It interrupted my activity and I found it very uncomfortable. UGH. With oral treatment I try to take good care of my stomach or GERD is inevitable. I take my meds at the prescribed times with greek yogurt drizzled in honey. Works for me 😀

When I've had a port it wasn't at all comfortable and my skin became red and irritated around the injection site. It didn't feel good at all. I feel lucky not to have to go down that road (anymore) too! Taking meds with just water has never worked for me, but to have the meds this way really helps my stomach. Very little GERD these days! Yay! 😀
