Does anyone else have an Ommaya Reservoir?
I have an Ommaya Reservoir and I have had a lot of people ask me if I am going to have it removed after my treatments are over. I’m not sure If I should or not? I have had a seizure only one with it in. Anyone else have one and did you remove it or keep it in?
May I ask what is an ommaya reservoir and what does it do?
The last Ommaya I saw was implanted just below the surface of the scalp with a system that allowed the medication to slowly seep into the brain via a catheter. The doctor would inject the medication into the reservoir (?spelling) every so often during the treatments as it was absorbed/used to treat a brain cancer.
