Seeking 2nd Opinions

Ever wondered about the best tactics in trying to have another pair of eyes on your health? Do you feel nervous going about this without hurting the other doctor's feelings?

Well, I do what I do...but I get why some people have a problem for one reason or another.

Tips:
Work with your insurance rep in getting a roster of doctors close in your area and within your network, then do your research.

Tips:
Have a transparent conversation alerting your doctor that you would feel comfortable going this route...if this really makes you uncomfortable

Tips:
Ask for a hospital social worker to possibly help guide you toward resources

TIP: Remember doctors are human, they can and do make mistakes and they may not be up to date on the latest developments or treatment advances due the workloads they face. It is always in your best interest to seek out other medical opinions without fear of offending anyone

TIP: Your health is your responsibility 100% of the time. Speak up! It is your life and your future at stake. Dennis(Blood-Cancer.com TEAM)

  2. I have two oncologist's from two different agencies. Fortunately they are both good friends already. One is an oncologist at UAMS at Little Rock, who is also on the board of directors with Stem Cell Transplant. The other oncologist, whom is the one that treated me the first round of chemo, is also on the board of directors with American Oncology Society. So, at least I know I'm in good hands.
