Bone Marrow Transplant

For those who went through a bone marrow transplant what did you find the hardest going through transplant?

  1. I didn't do the matter transplant, but I did do he stem cell transplant. Same results though. I thing the biggest thing for me was after the stem cells was put in me. For a couple days all of my long bones, especially my femurs (thigh bones) hurt. Got to the point they had to give me meds so it would be tolerable. They told me all the long bones and pelvic girdle bone is what makes the white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets and Myeloid cells. So it was the new cells attacking the old damaged stem cells and replacing the old to create a brand new immune system. That took about a week. After that, I was on anti-rejection meds.

    1. All I can say is it SAVED MY LIFE.

      1. amen brother. That's all we can ask for, right? How are you doing now my friend? Best wishes. Shane (Blood -cancer.com ream member)
