I recently had the pleasure of talking to Louis J. DeGennaro, Past President & CEO, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). He shared a lot of helpful information regarding LLS.

Seeking a cure for blood cancer

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is non-profit organization whose mission is to work toward a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families. LLS funds blood cancer research, provides free information and support services, and advocates for those living with blood cancer.

Wow, 1949? I had no idea! What an amazing organization! They have helped me SO, SO much, and I honestly don't know where I would be without them. And I had no idea how much they helped with research for new and groundbreaking treatments. Dr. DeGennaro seems like his heart is really in this organization and in finding a cure for blood cancers. How refreshing that they are looking at safer therapies for children with blood cancer (and hopefully adults too!) I also didn't realize that LLS was also lobbying for lower drug prices. In the past, I have testified about the high price of Revlimid with another organization and would encourage any blood cancer patient who feels passionate about it to get involved.
