When diagnosed with stage 3 myeloma in 1992, I decided to fight.
4 stem cell transplants, secondary cancer, many clinical trials, and second opinions later, and I remain active, exercising daily. Not easy, but it is possible. Stay strong, keep making plans.

Ronni, your post perfectly describes Paul Richardson. He is a treasure and unassuming, attributing his many honors to his team. When my wife and I virtually share our 29+ year myeloma survival experiences, I describe one of Paul’s acts of kindness that helped be get through 75 days in the UH of Cleveland transplant unit. This and more are the subject of my book, the profits go to charities. It’s called The Man in the Arena: Surviving Multiple Myeloma Since 1992.

I was diagnosed with MM in 2005 at the age of 41 years old. I was in Stage 3 and had kidney damage to the point I was on Dialysis for 5 weeks after SCT. I have only had 1 SCT and it has been 17 years in September. I am truly blessed.. I go for check-ups every 6 months and get IV fluids once a month to help with dehydration
