Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Having a positive attitude when facing any of life’s trials is important.

At least that’s my opinion. Nature and life have a way of working things out. Although it’s not always for the better, it gets done - one way or another.

There are just so many things we can’t control. When all else fails, we should just stop and enjoy the ride.

Looking for the silver lining

In my life, things have happened that seemed really bad at the time, but there was usually a silver lining hiding that popped up once the smoke cleared. Almost always a lesson was learned and I was glad I made it through the experience, usually a bit smarter.

Do all I can, then leave the rest. The way I like to live my life is to do everything I can to be happy and healthy. If I’ve done my best, then the rest is left to fate. Fate isn’t always kind, but since you can only do what you can do, the rest has to be accepted, expected, and dealt with.

My approach to cancer

That’s how I look at cancer. A question we were recently asked on the Blood-Cancer.com site was what our reaction was when we first found out we had cancer. Like many of you, I was in shock, but once the shock ebbed, I looked at what I needed to do to fix this. In my case, I underwent surgery and hoped for the best.

Taking it as it comes

I thought I had beat it, but found out about a year later it had metastasized. Another shock, but then I started to take care of myself. I mean really take care of myself. I got rid of toxic people, started eating better, exercising more, reduced my stress, and got in 7-8 hours of sleep each night. I didn’t get rid of the cancer, but I’m doing all that I can and will have to leave the rest to fate.

I'm a believer in action, if I can

I’m a big believer in taking action. One of my sayings is, "Fix it or live with it." I really don’t see any other choice. I don’t like living with cancer, but live with it I must - at least for now. Anything could change. If I’m lucky a cure will be found. If not, I’ll continue to do the best I can by taking care of myself. I think if you give your body and mind what it needs it will be able to do all the things it needs to do to keep us as healthy as possible.

What I’ve learned from taking action is, I look better, I feel better, and I have energy! I know this could change at any time, but for now it’s working. When things start to change, I will change with them to create the best life I can at the time.

Do your best and it will be all right

That’s what I wish for everyone. Do the best you can and it will be all right. Once you’ve done everything you can, the rest will have to be left up to fate. Sit back and enjoy the ride as much as possible. Remember, today is all you’ve got. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised. Make today the best day it can be.

Wishing you health and happiness.
