Finding Support in Unexpected Places

Sometimes, support comes from places we least expect—whether it's a casual acquaintance, an online community, or a new hobby that brings you peace.

Have you found support in an unexpected place or from an unexpected person? Share your story of how an unlikely source made a big difference in your life, and let’s celebrate the surprises that have lifted us up along the way.

  1. I have received a lot of support and gained many friendships from the nurses, techs, docs' office staff, etc that I have met. We have talked about immediate "tests" and meds, to music, vacations and more!! Their positivity and smiles are always welcome... and needed! Something as simple as a smile is so very important, can mean so very much, and therefore simply make a person's day 😁

    1. I also found a lot of support in a Facebook group for MPN cancers.

      1. I dont have a story yet for I am only 4 months into Myelofibrosis

        1. You are at the beginning of your journey, but please feel free to share your experience so far. We are here for you every step 😀

          Warmly, Chelley (Team member)

      2. I had a BMB on May 8th and I Found out on May 16th 2025 that I have Myelofibrosis
and I am a little nervous because I have no idea what to expect I have given it to God but I try and research everything and my family keeps asking my questions that I don't have the answers to

        1. Just want to say first that you are not alone! We have many different community members with many different types of cancer, including Myelofibrosis. You can read more about it here: https://blood-cancer.com/clinical/myelofibrosis It should give you a place to start but we have other wonderful articles written directly by those with the condition as well. Plus, you can always ask any questions you have and we will do our best to provide what answers we can! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
