Cancer Changed The Way I View My Birthday

Birthdays are such an interesting topic. Some people feel like royalty on their day of birth... some don't tell anyone it's even their birthday... some don't want their age mentioned at all and some people even lie about their age so they appear younger. Having cancer at such a tumultuous time in my life created an opportunity to change the way I view the day I was born and how I honor it. Celebrating a birthday essentially means that we are alive... and that is really all that matters. I'm excited to grow old and be healthy and appreciate each year and wrinkle because that almost wasn't my fate.
