Tracking Symptoms and Side Effects

It can be difficult to remember every single symptom or side effect one experiences, but it’s so important to tell a doctor when they happen. What are some tips for patients to keep track of their symptoms and side effects, between doctors visits?

I have kept a journal since I was diagnosed with cancer. Within it I write what procedures, labs and complications I’ve experienced. It’s a great way to keep track of what happened and when.

I have a notes section in my phone that I document everything I am experiencing in and relay it to my healthcare team.

If you have your teams direct numbers, and things happen between visits, I’d say sending them a text and ask questions on your concern works. In no way should you wait lengthy periods to reach out on a urgent concern.
