"Starting conversations about end of life wishes actually started with me thinking about what I believe will happen when I die. Since I am a Christian and believe in heaven, I realized that I am not afraid to die. I am afraid of the unknown parts that I may experience as I get closer to death. I know that I do not want to extend my life if I cannot lead a life of happiness and joy. I do not want to suffer through treatments that will not cure but only extend my life. I do not want to be a burden to my family so would rather be placed in a facility than have to have family take care of me. Once you identify your beliefs and fears, it is easier to talk with others about your end of life wishes."
